Most BCers feel the tax cut is a good idea for BC: According to McIntyre & Mustel's latest poll, a majority of BC residents (70%) feels the tax cut, implemented shortly after the BC Liberals were sworn in, is a "good idea" for BC. Just 18% feel it is a bad idea for BC, while 11% are uncertain.
Survey conducted: June 8-14, 2001
Methodology: Random sample of BC adults 18 years of age and over
Sample size: 514
Margin of error: ±4.3 percentage points at the 95% confidence level

  • A majority of BC residents feel the tax cut is fair to all BC residents. Even lower income earners tend to agree (52% feel the tax cut is fair, 36% unfair.)

When asked what they plan to do with their extra take-home pay, the largest group, about one-third (32%) plan to put it back into the economy by spending their increase, while 21% will invest it in some way. Another 20% plan to pay off debts.
